Wisconsin is more than beer and football. With to three American Viticulture Areas (AVAs) and more than 120 Wisconsin wineries, there is a lot to sip in. As part of the Wisconsin Wine Country Travel Guide, we have uncorked a few of the best places to stay while pouring into the Wisconsin wine country.
Where to Stay
Among the Vines
It’s one thing to visit wine country, it’s another to immerse yourself in it. Staying on a working vineyard at a winery hotel is the perfect way to do just that…especially in Wisconsin wine country.
Brambleberry Winery
For the ultimate vineyard experience, you have to stay at Brambleberry Winery. It’s a vineyard, bed and breakfast, farm and event space and visiting feels like a trip to the Scottish Highlands. Sip wine with their lambs or check out their shaggy Highland cattle. Great for a romantic getaway or a girls weekend, there’s nowhere like this anywhere else in the state.
N3684 Claire Rd, Taylor, WI 54659
Seven Hawks Vineyards
Stay among the vines and get spectacular bluff-top views from the cottages and lodges these folks have right on site. There are also two suites available above their tasting room. Complimentary wine accompanies any stay!
17 North Street, Fountain City, WI 54629
Trout Spring Winery
These folks offer a “glamping” option for those looking to stay near Door County but not really rough it. The charming cabin is a great option for families as an intro camping experience without all the equipment. It can also be a rustic and romantic way for a couple to unplug.
8150 River Road, Greenleaf, WI 54126
Where to Stay
Other Overnight Options
While we love staying among the vines, the Wisconsin wine country offers a variety of lodging options, one sure to please any palate.
Wagon Trail Campground
Families will love the cabins, yurts and travel trailers for rent at this campground with a boat launch that borders a nature conservancy.
1190 County Road ZZ, Ellison Bay, WI 54210
The Pembrooke Inn
This perfect spot for couples is an 1866 Victorian mansion with Jacuzzi tubs in every room. Recently reopened, it’s a stunning spot with tons of amenities close to so much Door County fun.
410 N 4th Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin 54235
The Westby House
This stunning bed and breakfast in the Driftless Region offers a wine and stay package in conjunction with local wineries. The perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a girls weekend with friends.
200 W State St., Westby, Wisconsin 54667
Aldebaran Farm
This historic house where Frank Lloyd Wright spent his boyhood summers is walking distance to Taliesin. Rent the whole house for a big group or family and use it as the home base to explore the Driftless region and Wisconsin River area.
