Travelers warned in wake of Osama bin Laden killing

Heads up, the U.S. State Department has issued a worldwide travel advisory to U.S. citizens traveling abroad amid fears of possible reprisal in the wake of the killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan. Today’s Stars and Stripes report urges Americans abroad to keep an eye on media coverage of local events and to maintain contact with the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

“Given the uncertainty and volatility of the current situation, U.S. citizens in areas where recent events could cause anti-American violence are strongly urged to limit their travel outside of their homes and hotels and avoid mass gatherings and demonstrations,” the advisory said.
