Be careful what you wish for, ‘cause you just might get it! In 2009 Valerie took a job that turned her into a Denver International Airport regular. As an aspiring world traveler, Gilroy, Calif., Des Moines, Ia., Monroeville, N.J. and the like were not exactly the adventures she envisioned. But, being a runner, a wine lover and someone who can’t sit in her hotel room at night, Valerie quickly learned that even the places that sound the least glamorous offer something special. Turns out, there are some good wineries outside of Greensboro, N.C., Columbus, Ohio has AMAZING restaurants and Santa Cruz – just an hour from Gilroy, Calif. – yields phenomenal oceanside runs. Of course, as a dutiful – however unsavory it is at times – United frequent flyer and a Hilton Honors devotee, she was on her way to exploring some fabulous venues on her own time. Some of Valerie’s regular adventures include running relay races in the Rockies and an annual pilgrimage to Napa and Sonoma for wine buying. It’s a hard job, but somebody’s got to do it! She’s excited to share the little gems and tips she finds and learns on her work travels as well as her personal play time.
